Why materials matter in baby products

When you're a first-time mother, you find yourself facing hundreds of products, each with colorful labels and beautiful promises. But what's truly important? Only one thing: what it's made of.

Baby's skin is not like ours

A newborn's skin is 5 times thinner than an adult's. It absorbs substances from the environment much faster and filters them out much harder. This means that a cheap plastic toy, an uncertified pacifier, or chemically treated textiles can introduce substances into the little one's body that their immune system is not prepared to handle.

What to look for on the label

You don't have to be a chemist to make good choices. Here's what certifications really matter:

  • OEKO-TEX Standard 100 — textiles do not contain harmful substances
  • BPA Free — plastic does not release bisphenol A, a hormone disruptor
  • EN71 — toys comply with European safety standards
  • FSC — wood comes from responsible sources

If a product has no certification mentioned, it's a red flag.

Natural doesn't always mean safe

A common myth: "if it's natural, it's good." Not always. Some plants are allergenic, some essential oils are contraindicated for babies under 3 years old. The source, processing, and testing matter — not just the origin.

At Nuzelio, we choose differently

Every product in our store goes through careful verification before it reaches you. We don't sell anything we wouldn't give our own children. Certifications are not optional — they are the starting point.

Because a healthy baby starts with conscious choices. Your choices.
